BornLearning
Arrowhead United Way

Sponsored by:

United Way of America is partnering with the Ad Council, Civitas, and Families and Work Institute to create BornLearning.  BornLearning is a public engagement campaign that helps parents, grandparents, and caregivers explore ways to turn everyday activities into fun learning experiences.

Why it is important

Children begin learning before they are born.  During a child’s first years, their brain is developing rapidly.  The foundation of learning is established during that time and is critical to a child’s development.

As a child’s first and most important teacher, parents can easily turn everyday moments into fun and engaging learning opportunities.  By doing so, they give their child the best start possible.  A child will be ready for school and equipped with social, emotional, and cognitive skills that they will need to succeed.

Research indicates that children with high quality early learning in their first years are more likely to finish school, become part of a productive workforce, and contribute to society and the economy.

How it works

BornLearning is an educational instrument that promotes awareness about the importance of the quality of early learning.  It provides care givers with practical tools, resources, and ideas to help them integrate learning into everyday moments such as doing laundry, grocery shopping, and traveling.

What you can do

Use and share the research based learning tools to make learning fun everyday!
