What is the Teens Make a Difference Program?
Teens Make a Difference (TMAD) is a program that recognizes the amazing work young people do in their community! This program is designed specifically for high school students. The program is continual although timesheets are due every April 1st in order to participate in the annual recognition ceremony held in May.
You can get started anytime by volunteering and logging hours toward your year-end total on a TMAD timesheet. Volunteering at a nonprofit or community based organization may be included on your timesheet. (Sorry: volunteering at dad's insurance company or babysitting your sister does NOT count.)
Be sure to log all your hours and have the volunteer coordinator sign it each time you volunteer. Libraries, hospitals and participating schools are some of the places where you can give your time and make a difference!
Why should you volunteer?
CAREER- Build your résumé, develop and learn new skills, explore career options and network!
UNDERSTANDING– increase social awareness, better understand the population you are serving and discover your talents and strengths.
ESTEEM- to grow, gain self confidence, and build a sense of independence and purpose.
SOCIAL- Meet a diverse group of fun and energetic people, be apart of your community, have fun and leave an IMPACT by helping others.
