Arrowhead United Way continues to fight food insecurity with their Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

Arrowhead United Way Food Drive

Arrowhead United Way (AUW) is hosting their Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive through November 22, 2021 in an effort to fight food insecurity during the holiday season and ensure families in need have access to a Thanksgiving dinner.

“We are extremely grateful to be able to provide families in need a Thanksgiving dinner basket once again this year. Unfortunately, last year, due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty of the virus, we were unable to gather non-perishable food items and other canned goods to assemble our usual food baskets for families. We were, however, able to donate over fifty fifteen-pound turkeys to our local partners for the families they serve. We plan to do that again this year, but with a basket for families in need and other non-profit agencies that can benefit from the donation“, said Senior Resource Manager, Sheika Hurd.

AUW is actively collecting frozen turkeys or frozen ham, non-perishable food items such as mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and other canned goods like corn, yams, and gravy. Grocery store gift cards will also be accepted and used to fill the Thanksgiving baskets that will include a fifteen-dollar Butter Ball food voucher that families can use.

For more information about donating a pre-assembled Thanksgiving basket or to make an appointment to drop-off items at the AUW office, please call 909-884-9441 or email Christophero@ahuw.org.
